G20 2009: Police Attack Students at University of Pittsburgh

From YouTube: “Watch as police use teargas/pepper spray and rubber bullets against University of Pittsburgh students during the Pittsburgh G20 Summit. Many of the students were not part of any demonstration but simply bystanders on their own campus.”

These gentlemen are for whom the term “fucking pigs” was coined. Pay close attention at the 3:45 mark.

If you are 21 or older, think twice before a breathalyzer!

I’m not a lawyer, so this is in no way legal advice.

Fortunately, I’ve never found myself in a breathalyzer situation, but it is always good to be prepared. If you are 21+ years old, you should always think twice before taking a breathalyzer test and demand that the police take you back to the station for a blood test. At the very least, pay attention to what the cops are doing with their hands on the machine. See this video for all the proof you need.

Be warned, refusing the breathalyzer may get your license suspended in many locales, including my dear, nearsighted Kansas. I’m not a lawyer, so this is in no way legal advice. It is just one citizen showing other citizens how to fight police corruption and stupidity.

Climate Camp just says no…to London cops

Climate Camp's response to the London Metropolitan Police

The London Metropolitan Police asked Climate Camp to reveal the location of their next camp so that a “proportional policing operation” could be planned. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. Climate Camp replied with the above video.

Context: Climate Camp is a lawful, peaceful gathering of people (old, young, men and women) to talk about alternatives to environmentally devastating ways of producing and consuming. Earlier Climate Camps have been met by unprovoked and savage police assaults and harassment.Cory Doctorow
BoingBoing

This is a story about the power of social networking to realize change, a story about the shortcomings of a police state, a story about people standing together in the face of oppression. In short, a story about the power of people; a fantastic modern tale. Let’s hope it has a peaceful conclusion. Regardless of your view on climate change, peaceful assembly must be supported in ostensible democracies such as the United Kingdom.
